Class Description	This course explores the different usages of the word sunnah across the various Islamic disciplines as well as establishing the authority of the sunnah as a legitmate source of Islamic legislation. Other topics include the role of the Messenger (saw) and the need for the sunnah, the position of the sunnah vis-a-vis the Qur’an, and the correct methodology in adhering to the sunnah.

Objectives

To provide students with an opportunity to worship Almighty Allah through understanding Hadith and Sunnah
To enable the student to differentiate between Hadith and Sunnah
To enable the student to articulate the different meanings of Sunnah according to the different science of Islamic Knowledge
To have a firm knowledge of the evidences demonstrating the Authority of the Sunnah in the Islamic Legal model.
To understand the relationship between the Quran and the Sunnah.
